Grotto Pizza
Grotto may mean “cave” in Italy, but in Delaware it means pizza – lots of pizza! Placed in a row, the number of Grotto Pizza pies sold each year would stretch beyond the length of Delaware and Pennsylvania combined! Grotto Pizza was founded in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware in 1960 by 17 year old Dominick Pulieri along with his brother-in-law Joe Paglianite and sister Mary Jean. At that time, pizza slices sold for 20 cents each, and a whole pizza sold for $1.60. Through the years, Grotto Pizza has continued to expand, and continues to adhere to it’s philosophy of quality food and friendly hospitality.
